Fun Fact: I love spending time outdoors in God’s creation, whether that is hunting, fishing, or just relaxing with my family.
God radically transformed my life from a life steeped in sin to a life fully devoted to Him. I spent my early years going to church and trying to do all the ‘right’ things, but in my teen years, my rebellious heart became consumed with alcohol, drugs, and everything in between. But then God stepped in. Through the faithful preaching of the Word of God, the Spirit working on my hard heart, godly counsel from men in the church, and a patient wife, the LORD led me to a gravel road outside of Newton, Iowa, and I cried out to Him, “God, if You are real, save me!” The LORD heard my cry. Just as Psalm 40:1-3 describes, He lifted me out of the pit, set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God, and many will see and fear and put their trust in Him. I experienced the profound truth of 2 Corinthians 5:17, turning away from my old lifestyle to become a completely new creation in Christ.
Following that day on the gravel road, God gave me a burning desire to study His Word and called me into full-time ministry. Over the years, Galatians 2:20 has become a life passage for me, reminding me daily that I have been crucified with Christ and now live by faith in the Son of God. We are incredibly thankful for the time we served the Lord in Colorado and the time we served the Lord in Southeast Iowa. My wife Shari and I praise God for His faithful direction and answered prayers in bringing us to this new season of ministry and life, and we are humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve the Lord with Lakeside Fellowship.
