Students' Ministries

Thirst is what we call our student ministries here at Lakeside. Psalm 42:2 says “ soul thirsts for God…” We all have been created for God and for fellowship with God, and in our lives and at the core of our being there is a vacuum that only God could fill. We desire to know God more and to make Him famous.

Our mission is to partner with parents to help high school students, wherever they are at spiritually, to become fully devoted disciples of Christ. We do that through:

  • Reach: Establish a personal relationship with Christ and the passion to share it with others. (Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 2:8-10)
  • Connect: Form authentic, personal relationships with peers and adults leading to accountability and a love for the Church. (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • Grow: Develop a familiarity and deeper understanding of God’s Word through gospel centered teaching and Bible study leading to obedience that comes through faith. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, Romans 1:5)
  • Serve: Demonstrate the love of God by serving one another, the church and the community. (1 Peter 4:8-10, 1 John 3:16)
  • Honor: Love God, love people (Matthew 22:36-40, Mark 12:29-31)

What We Do

Wednesday Nights: Jr. High(6-8 Grade) & Sr. High(9-12th Grade) Student Minstries – 6:45pm to 8:30pm at our building

Our evening schedule and format varies depending on what we are studying. For some lessons we stay together as one large group and for others we separate the Jr. & Sr. High. We start with games and group activities, have large group teaching time and then break into small groups for discussion of the lesson and prayer.

It is our desire that every student who connects with our ministry gets involved in a small group with an adult leader. Small groups are made up of 3-6 students of the same age and gender and 1-2 adult leaders. The goal of a small group is to develop caring relationships that help everyone to know Christ better. These groups also get together at various times for group activities planned by the leader.

Other Activities

S.W.A.C.’s – (Sunday Way After Church) – informal get-together at a parent’s house for food and fun.

S.O.S. – (Student’s Offering Services) – a 2 or 3 day camping retreat where the students work in the community during the day and camp at night.

Our Winter Retreat – We spend 2 days and nights bonding, playing crazy games, having snowball fights and getting away from everything so we can be challenged.

Summer Camp – We travel up to Lake Ann in Michigan for the best week of your life (seriously it will be one of the best experiences you ever have!)

Missions Trips – We’ve been to work on a ranch for outreach in Montana, and helped our church plant Living Waters with their Vacation Bible School.

Various other activities – mini golf, sledding, Final Four parties, bonfires and much more.
