I’m New

What to Wear

We really don’t care as long as you are comfortable. You won’t see many ties or dresses but if, you want to wear a tuxedo and formal gown, you’ll probably have no problem getting people to talk to you! Most of the guys wear shorts or jeans and the gals wear pants or a dress. Our pastor normally wears jeans or slacks with a button down shirt.

Getting Here

If you are coming on a Sunday morning, traffic is normally not an issue. We have had some construction on one of the main roadways, so in case you have to make a detour, you might want to allow a few extra minutes. Our service starts at 10a.m., and people normally start arriving around 9:45.

Parking

You can park anywhere in the school parking lot. There are no special spots for visitors, members, pastors or deacons. Find a great spot and it’s yours! If the parking lot is full, you can park at the library across the street.

The Building

We meet in a school, so everything is just a little different. Feel free to come in the main entrance. People will greet you at the door and give you our weekly bulletin. The bulletin has more information about the morning service, upcoming events, and other tidbits. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the greeters. They are there to assist you with whatever you need.

Nursery

If you have children ages two and under we provide a fully-staffed nursery with qualified workers. The nursery will be to your left as you walk down the main hallway. Please sign in your children on the table outside the door.

Visitor Resource Table

After the nursery we have a table especially for you. There is a lot of stuff on this table, so take a few minutes to look it over. All the books, Bibles, music, magnets and other information is completely free, so please take what you want. We would love for you to fill out a card at this table as well. We’d like to follow up with those who visit to see if we can serve you or maybe answer a few of your questions.

The Gym

Our main worship service is in the gym. The sound isn’t great (though it has improved dramatically after installing sound panels), but it’s the largest place that will fit us comfortably. We’re in the process of getting our own building, but for now this is home. Sit anywhere you like. There are no assigned seats.

We have a small cafe, o.k., it’s really just a table with pastries, orange juice and coffee in the back. Everything is free – we don’t even ask for donations.

There are bathrooms and drinking fountains located to the left of the gym doors as you come in.

The Service

We typically start out singing with our worship band, and we do stand the whole time we are singing.
After the singing is done, all the kids 3yrs old through 2nd grade will be dismissed to children’s church for the remainder of the service. Pastor Dave normally preaches for about 40 minutes.

After the Service

Since we are a mobile church, we have to tear everything down. Don’t feel like you have to help, though you are more than welcome to participate. We have people assigned to the technical things, but putting up chairs is fair game for everyone!

People normally stick around for 15-20 minutes and talk, so don’t feel like you have to leave right away even if everything is being taken down.

Hopefully that will give you a good idea of what a Sunday morning is like at Lakeside, but the only way you’ll truly get the experience is if you come and visit. We can’t wait to meet you.
